Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice and Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. The idea is to share a sentence or so from the first page and the 56th page of the book you are currently reading!
Book Beginning:
"Just past eight o'clock on the last morning of November, the mountain began to shake."
Friday 56:
"For so long he had believed himself next to fearless, but this fear bit as deeply into him as the mountain chill."
I'm only about 50 pages into this so far but I'm already so hooked! The characters are already real to me and I am so intrigued by the mountain and the ark. At the moment I'm not sure how much will be supernatural and how much is explainable without the supernatural but it's super intense and engaging and just one of those books you can easily picture in your mind! This would make an incredible movie.
Ooh Ararat looks SO good! I love the idea of the Ark up there and some supernatural elements! :)
ReplyDeleteIts incredible so far! Can't wait to continue it! :)
DeleteI haven't read Golden in ages, but he's always good. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never read anything by him before but I'm already really impressed! :)
DeleteThis sounds really good. I remember when the team was looking for the ark. What year was it? My Friday Quotes
ReplyDeleteI don't remember this! I'll have to look it up! It would be interesting to know the real life story of it.
DeleteI actually like the opening sentence. I haven't heard of this one before, but I'm definitely adding it to my goodreads TBR.
ReplyDeleteI think the opening sentence really sets the scene for the whole book! Hope you get to read it and enjoy it!
DeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteThis DOES look good! I'm going to add this to my Goodreads - TBR piles!
Here's my entry for #Friday56 and #Bookbeginnings : http://bit.ly/2pcpZoG

Hey!
DeleteIt really is good so far! Friday 56 and Book Beginnings are always so bad for my TBR I swear!
oooh that first sentence is absolutely intriguing and EPIC. I'm glad the characters are really excellent too! That's what makes a book for me tbh. :') Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteSame! Characters are always the most important thing for me so it's wonderful that I already adore them! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteI've heard really good things about this book. Hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely loving it so far!
DeleteLove when characters in a thriller type read feel real. So often it's all plot and flat characters. It sounds interesting! I can definitely believe it's gripping!
ReplyDeleteI think it makes the "thriller" element more engaging if I care about the characters! Just action might be fun but I don't care as much what happens whereas here I am already so desperate for the characters to come out alright!
DeleteSounds so intense! Thanks for sharing and enjoy. Here's mine: “A MOTHER’S CONFESSION”
ReplyDeleteIt is! Really hard to put down! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteJust looking at it makes me want to read it.

DeleteSounds good. I hope you continue to enjoy it. I am reading Traitor's Kiss by Erin Beatty this week. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Traitor's Kiss is one of my most anticipated reads of the year so will be interested to see what you think of it!
DeleteThat's a great opening that makes me want to know more. This sounds like an adventure story I'd enjoy reading.
ReplyDeleteMy Friday post features The River of Corn.
Its got the right mix of intense adventure and engaging characters so far! And I agree, the opening gets right in with the action and makes you want to keep reading!
DeleteSounds like it could be an enthralling story!! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping so! Hope you have a great weekend!
DeleteGlad to hear you're enjoying your new read!
