Tuesday Intros and Teaser Tuesdays

First Chapter, First Paragraph, Tuesday Intros is hosted by Bibliophile by the Sea where bloggers share the first paragraph or two of the book they are currently reading/thinking about reading soon. Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read

 Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Because this is our first Tuesday Intro/Teaser Tuesday of the month we will also be including an excerpt from our Classics for this month.

Ann:
Little Women (Little Women, #1)
Tuesday Intro:
""Christmas won't be Christmas without any presents," grumbled Jo lying on the rug. "It's so dreadful to be poor!" sighed Meg, looking down at her old dress."I don't think it's fair for some girls to have plenty of pretty things, and other girls nothing at all," added little Amy with an injured sniff."

Anne of the Island (Anne of Green Gables, #3)
Teaser Tuesday:
"It was a moist, pleasantly odorous night in early spring."
I liked this quote because I always love the descriptions in these books and this was one I picked out of many options.

Clare:
Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass, #4)
Tuesday Intro:
"There was a thing waiting in the darkness. It was ancient and cruel, and paced in the shadows leashing his mind. It was not of his world, and had been brought here to fill him with its primordial cold. Some invisible barrier still separated them, but the wall crumbled a little more every time the thing stalked along it's length, testing its strength. He could not remember his name."
I am not going to do a teaser for this one because I don't want to spoil myself when I am just starting it. But isn't that intro good? It's so atmospheric and I love the first sentence. I want to keep reading straight away!
The Wings of the Dove
Teaser:
"She tried to be sad so as not to be angry, but it made her angry that she couldn't be sad."
Aww poor Kate. This is from the second page since I have only started this today. But I kind of like her at the moment. I am not sure if that will last, I am always wary with Henry James because he can take characters I thought I loved and make me despise them and vice versa. But so far - I like her. I also like this sentence because I know that feeling.

You can also find us on Goodreads (Ann and Clare) and on Twitter (Ann and Clare) to keep up with what we are reading

  2. I want to try Sarah J. Maas's books. I've heard such great things about them. I haven't read The Wings of the Dove or Little Women or any of the Anne of Green Gables books. I think at some point I probably will read Anne of Green Gables.

    1. I know some people who really didn't get into the Throne of Glass books, my brother really disliked them if I remember correctly. But I just love her characters so much, when Queen of Shadows arrived today it was the most excited I've been over a book in a long time! I have high hopes for The Wings of the Dove, and I definitely recommend Anne of Green Gables and I know Ann does too. Thanks for visiting
