Friday Reads 6th November 2015

Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice, the idea is to grab a book, turn to page 56 (or 56% in an e-book) and find any sentence (no spoilers!) and then post it. Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are currently reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence and impressions about the book.

Ann:
Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1)Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)The Turn of the ScrewTexts from Jane Eyre: And other conversations with your favourite literary authors
I am planning on reading hopefully a lot this weekend so I am hoping to read the Bloodlines series this weekend and possibly start Throne of Glass. I am also aiming to read about 20-30 pages of The Turn of the Screw. I am also reading Texts From Jane Eyre which Clare just finished and really liked.

Book Beginnings:
Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)
"After a year of slavery in the Salt Mines of Endovier, Celaena Sardothien was accustomed to being escorted everywhere in shackles and at sword-point."
Friday 56:
Texts from Jane Eyre: And other conversations with your favourite literary authors
"A person can have more than one Shawl. a person cannot be content with but one white Shawl." - Jane Eyre
I love the sound of these books and am very excited to read them.

Clare:
The Hunchback of Notre-DameHold Me Like a Breath (Once Upon a Crime Family, #1)Twitter GirlSomeone Else's Fairytale (Someone Else's Fairytale, #1)For the Record
I am aiming to read about 50 pages of The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, this weekend. Although I am definitely enjoying the story, there is a lot of description and it's quite difficult to read any large chunks of it at a time so I am taking it slowly. I have just started Hold Me Like a Breath by Tiffany Schmidt as well as Twitter Girl by Nic Tatano. I read e-books faster (usually) than I do physical books so I am also hoping to read Someone Else's Fairytale and For the Record both of which I have heard great things about!

Book Beginnings:
Twitter Girl
"@TwitterGirlTornado whips through Mississippi trailer park, causes three million dollars worth of improvements."
Friday 56:
Hold Me Like a Breath (Once Upon a Crime Family, #1)
"When Carter turned on the musical score I shut my eyes so I wouldn't have to see the pity in his."
I love that Twitter Girl starts off with a tweet, I haven't heard much about this book so I am not sure what to expect but I do like books that involve social media.
I know that the main character in Hold Me Like a Breath bruises very easily so she can't be touched or something along those lines. So that's probably what the pity in Carter's eyes is but I am intrigued to learn more.

You can also find us on Goodreads (Ann and Clare) to keep up with what we are reading

  3. Throne of Glass is my favorite series. Love those books, and I really love how Celaena loves pretty dresses and sharp knives, and is a total book nerd.

    1. I am enjoying it so far, although there isn't as much crime as you would expect from a crime family novel yet!
