Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice and Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. The idea is to share a sentence or so from the first page and the 56th page of the book you are currently reading!
"The night Kate Harker decided to burn down the school chapel, she wasn't angry or drunk. She was desperate."
"The moment he crossed out of the light, it came, a flurry of teeth and claws that sank into the man's flesh and began to shred."
I really like that first sentence - it definitely grabs the attention but that 56 is so dark! Starting to get an idea of what this book will be like and I definitely like it so far. The writing is amazing and although I am only a chapter in so far, I think this is going to be a book I enjoy!
That beginning, too! It really makes me want to know more. Thanks for sharing. Here's my Friday Book.ReplyDelete
It was a very intense read! Definitely enjoyed it!Delete
This Savage Song seems like it could be interesting. I've read a handful of novels by V.E. Schwab/Victoria Schwab's, and I did enjoy them. So, this seems like a book I would enjoy.ReplyDelete
I've only ever read The Near Witch by her before which I was slightly underwhelmed by - so I am glad I enjoyed this one so much!Delete
I love when a book grabs me quickly. Happy reading.ReplyDelete

I like the sound of this - definitely a book that would be great for this time of year - here's my Friday memeReplyDelete
I was planning to read it closer to Halloween but ultimately had to return it to the library!Delete
I liked the beginning...I want to know more about her state of mind. Thanks for sharing. Here's mine: “A MAP OF THE WORLD”ReplyDelete
She definitely has an interesting perspective on the world! Really liked reading from her POV though!Delete
I've heard such good things about this author and this book. Love that beginning! It definitely pulls you in fast.ReplyDelete
It's only my second Schwab book but it definitely impressed me and I very much want to read more by her!Delete
The book's opening makes me want to keep reading to find out why the character was so desperate. I'm also curious about "it" in the 56 excerpt. What could "it" be? I hope you enjoy the story.ReplyDelete
My Friday post features The Songbird’s Call.
The monsters in this were brilliantly written - different levels and types of menacing! It was a great read!Delete
Love, Love, Love!! Happy weekend!ReplyDelete
Thanks for visiting!Delete
I enjoyed this one. I hope you do too. Mine is from a cute middle grade mystery - Friday Barnes Under Suspicion by R. A. Spratt. Happy reading!ReplyDelete
Definitely enjoyed it a lot!Delete
Loved this one so much! Schwab just has a way with words, doesn't she? Hope you enjoy the rest and that your weekend is enjoyable!ReplyDelete
Her writing is so... beautiful in a really weird way? Definitely want to read more by her!Delete
Oh wow! Everything about this one grabs me!ReplyDelete
