Fairy Loot Unboxing: Myths and Monsters

What was in the box?

  • Silver Dragon Scale Scarf: This was made exclusively for the box by GivArt and is so lovely. Its very soft and very pretty and I've already worn it a couple of times.
  • Unicorn Fairy Lights: These were made by Mustard and they made Ann so freaking happy! She has been wanting fairy lights for a really long time now so the second we opened the box and saw these (literally the first thing we saw) I think this box was her favourite!
  • Nephilim Candle: An exclusive from Geeky Clean. This smells incredible and I really hope candles are going to be a frequent thing because I love them so much. This one is black cherry and lime and is honestly just so lovely.
  • Mermaid Pocket Mirror: Design exclusive from Book Otter. I am always up for a mirror for my handbag (cause apparently I'm super vain?) but this one is really pretty as well.
  • Dragon and Phoenix Magnetic Bookmarks: Exclusive from Bonitismo. I am not a huge bookmark person (I like them but I don't get enthusiastic) but these are my favourite things in the whole box. Believe me I am confused also. But Clare there was a CANDLE and a SCARF who even are you? But they're adorable (I have the dragon, Ann has the phoenix). Just look at them, I dare you not to want them;
  • Book of the Month: Was of course Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor and this is just the most gorgeous edition. If you follow us on Instagram (@dualreads) expect to see more of this book cause we're a little obsessed! It's got blue sprayed pages and illustrations by Laini and its signed and I just - I'm in love!
  • Bonus Items: Anniversary booklet and Fallen Online Chapter Sampler
This was the One Year Anniversary box (HUGE congratulations to Fairy Loot) and it was just wonderful. I loved every single thing in it (especially the bookmarks) and I cannot wait to read Strange the Dreamer - which, fortunately I just pulled out of my TBR jar so its up next!! I know I say this every month but I mean it - I adore Fairy Loot. I have not had one single disappointment since I started receiving their boxes and I am always excited for the next one!
Next month's theme is Dreams & Wishes and I am super excited for it! Once again I think I know what the book is which is always exciting (I am terrified of accidentally buying a book and then getting it in Fairy Loot as well).

Note:
In yesterdays Friday Reads I mentioned the possibility of setting up a linky each week to share your favourite blog post from the past week - whatever you are most proud of or most enjoyed putting together. And I got a really positive response so thank you very much for that! I am going to move ahead and work out the details and will let you know in tomorrows Sunday Post when I've got everything organised!!

Fairy Loot Unboxing: Emperors and Fugitives

What Was in the Box?
  • Full Size Kalusian Sunset Candle: This was made exclusively for the box by Happy Piranha and the candle was named by the author of the month. I love candles. I have a whole box of candles and I would just be so happy to receive a candle every month honestly. Plus this one smells amazing.
  • Rebel of the Sands Pouch: Made exclusively for the box by Alisse Courtier. The quote reads "The world makes things for each place" which I like but don't fully understand having never read Rebel of the Sands - although I want to!!
  • Baby Groot Guardians of the Galaxy Keychain: You can just about see him in the middle of the picture (he is so tiny and cute). I love Groot and I am super excited for Guardians of the Galaxy so this was kinda perfect!
  • Celestial Gunpowder Bath Bomb: Created exclusively for the box by Bathing Beauties. Not pictured because (me being an idiot) I put it inside the Rebel of the Sands pouch for safe keeping. But - it is cupcake scented and so lovely!
  • Illuminae Quote Coaster: Made exclusively for the box by Read At Midnight. I love Illuminae so, so much so I know this will be getting a lot of use.
  • Space Girl Bookmark: Designed exclusively for the box by Till and Dill. Such a gorgeous, well made bookmark! As far as I know, this isn't specific to any book - just sci-fi in general and I love it.
  • Manon and Dorian Art Print: Double sided print from Throne of Glass made for the box by Taratjah. I love the art work on this one and Manon is one of my favourite characters. I haven't read the 5th book yet so I'm not sure if there is some Manon/Dorian connection I don't know about? But I kinda don't wanna know. Will be reading it when the final book comes out.
  • Empress of a Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza: God I am so excited for this book. Plus it came with a signed bookplate and an author letter (which genuinely made me cry it was so lovely)! I guessed it would be this one as well (getting really good at guessing the book).

This is probably one of my favourite boxes so far. I love bath bombs, bookmarks and candles so those were always going to be a win for me and the book is one of my most anticipated of the entire year!!

The theme for March is Myths and Monsters and I one hundred percent know what the book is (I am so excited)!! I am pretty sure they are currently sold out but more boxes may become available after subscriptions renew at the beginning of March so be sure to check it out! The cost per month is £26 plus shipping and I personally think it is so worth it!

Fairy Loot Unboxing: January 2017 - Mystery and Mischief

Fairy Loot is swiftly becoming one of my favourite things - I am so excited for the box to arrive each month and haven't been disappointed yet!

If you are a Fairy Loot subscriber but your box hasn't arrived yet - please be aware of spoilers!!

What Was in the Box:
  • Funko Mystery Mini: Each subscriber randomly received either a Harry Potter mini or a Game of Thrones one - I got Harry Potter and I even got the man himself! He is very cute!
  • Exclusive Night Circus Pillow Case: I am a big fan of the Night Circus and of pillows so this is perfect for me. The quote reads "The finest pleasures are always the unexpected ones" which I love. Designed by Risa Rodil (The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern)
  • Exclusive Come Back Yesterday Candle: Candles are my true weakness. I own literally dozens of them and I can't walk past any shop selling candles without going in. This one smells really good and is apparently themed around this months book which is intriguing! Designed by Heather at Meraki Candles.
  • How to Think Like Sherlock by Daniel Smith: Having two books was such a lovely surprise. This is definitely a book you can dip in and out of rather than reading cover to cover so I will be reading a little of this every so often.
  • Exclusive Rose Necklace: Again, apparently significant to the book which is exciting! It's such a beautiful well made necklace as well. Designed by Oh Panda Eyes.
  • Exclusive Alice in Wonderland Bookmark: This is double printed with triple paper which is perfect for me - my books tend to spend a lot of time in my handback and I've bent more than a couple of bookmarks as a result so this will hopefully be sturdier. Designed by Read At Midnight.
  • Caraval by Stephanie Garber: I guessed right!! I had a feeling this would be this months book and I am so glad it is! It's a really beautiful copy and one of my most anticipated reads of the year! This came with signed bookplate, author letter, bookmark and post card. I especially love the author letter because there are doodles on it that may relate to the book which is intriguing!
  • Bonus Items: Alchemists of Loom bookmark, Passenger notebook and Jackaby free chapter download code postcard.
Another great box!! I love the book which I was going to buy anyway - I am super excited for it! Of the other products I think my favourite is either the Candle or the Pillowcase (although I also really love the Necklace and the Bookmark - choosing favourites is HARD). Next month's theme is Emperors & Fugitives and again, I think I know what the book is and am very excited for it!

Fairy Loot Unboxing December 2016

I was extremely pleased with November's Fairy Loot box, which was also my first box from them, so I was very excited for this month's to arrive. I was actually away whilst it arrived so I had to wait a few days to open it. The theme this month was Sci-Fi Adventure. Typically I prefer Sci-Fi films to books as I find it so hard to wrap my head around without the visuals but I have been getting more into Sci-Fi this year so was interested to give this box a try.

 What was in the Box?
  • Flashfall by Jenny Moyer: This is a book I have been thinking about getting ever since it was released so I am glad to finally own it! It looks so interesting and exciting so I will definitely be reading this very soon! This also came with a signed bookplate, letter from the author and a bookmark which is always a nice touch!
  • Star Wars Funko! Pop: Definitely my favourite item in this box. They sent out Yoda, Stormtroopers, Princess Leia, C-3PO and Rey. I got Rey and I was very happy with that! I already have a Princess Leia so Rey or C-3PO were my preferences. Rey is currently living on my DVD shelf!
  • Kryptonite Bath Powder: This was created exclusively for the box by Geeky Clean. This smells so, so delicious. It smells like cupcakes (because naturally Superman's weakness would be a crystal that smells like cupcakes?) and I am so excited to use this.
  • Galaxy Socks: These were created by Fairy Loot for this box, I really like them. I am not sure what material they are but they seem warm which is good for winter!
  • Watercolour Bookmark: The quote on this is from the Starbound Trilogy which is one of my favourites and it says "We Are and Will Always Be What We Choose". I am currently using this bookmark and it is so beautiful. This was created by Lexy Olivia
  • Art Print and Buttons: Designed for this box by Taratjah. The art print is of the Lunar Chronicles guys and the buttons are of Darrow and Sevro from Red Rising which I haven't actually read yet but really want to!
  • Bonus Items: Way Down Dark sampler (we actually got sent this book from the publisher so I passed the sampler on to my brother), Red Rising Art Print and The Long Way to A Small, Angry Planet art print both of which make me want to read their books a lot.
Overall I really liked everything I got in this box. I think I did love November's box a bit more but that was partly because there was a tote bag and a mug and both of those are my weaknesses! Next month's theme is Mystery and Mischief and you can check it out here if you'd like more information! I have an inkling of what next month's book will be and it makes me very excited plus the description mentions the circus which is my favourite thing in the world!

Fairy Loot Unboxing - November: Royals and Rogues

My November Fairy Loot box arrived on Wednesday and I was incredibly excited for it! This is not only my first Fairy Loot box but my first bookish subscription box (I currently get two lifestyle/beauty boxes as well). I've been pretty nervous to get a book subscription because I pre-order a lot of books and I was worried about duplicates. One of the (many) great things about Fairy Loot is their theme descriptions - so if, like me, you worry about getting two of the same book you can always read the theme and make a guess at the book.

Spoilers ahead!!

This is one of those times where I really wish I was better at photography! I loved pretty much everything in this box. Here's what it contained;
  • Queen of Books Mug (Designed exclusively for this box by ReadAtMidnight). I absolutely love this mug. I am a huge fan of mugs in general but this is my first bookish mug.
  • Royals & Rogues Tea (From The Tea Leaf Company). I am not actually a tea drinker so whilst this was a really nice addition to the box I will be passing this on to my Mum.
  • Calipha Pocket Mirror (Designed exclusively for this box by Bookworm Boutique). This was very useful for me because I actually needed a new handbag mirror - plus The Wrath and the Dawn is one of my favourite duologies. The quote on the back reads "My Queen is Without Limitations. Boundless in All That She Does".
  • Queen of Terrasen Notepad (Hand lettered by Alexis Lampley). Whilst I love the design on this notepad, there isn't a lot of room to write on it yourself so it's not the most practical notepad I own. But I am sure I will use it.
  • Scented Spectorium Soap Crystals (Made by CraftyRagamuffin). The note inside the box simply says that I will "understand what it symbolizes after you read this month's book!" So I am going to have to read the book to find out I guess! It does smell nice though.
  • Art Print for Red Queen (Lettering side - LovelyOwlsBooks, Illustration- BookOtter). This is a really nice art print for Red Queen. It looks amazing - I didn't love Red Queen when I read it but this is just so pretty.
  • Tote Bag Hands down my favourite thing in this box (apart from the book). I actually already used this and it is as practical as it is beautiful. The quote is "That I Will Bow Before No One And Nothing But My Crown" from A Court of Mist and Fury - one of my favourite books of the year.
  • Nemesis by Anna Banks This is actually a book I am super excited to read! I had almost pre-ordered it but decided not to in the end just because I had too many books pre-ordered in October already. This came with a signed bookplate and a letter from the author.

I was very happy with this box and thought it was well worth it's price (£26 +P&P). This is a great box for me because not only is Fantasy a genre I already adore - this box is also based in the UK. I have been unable to get any of the US based boxes purely because the postage would bankrupt me!
The December theme is Sci-Fi Adventure and you can find more information on it here. I know that I am super excited to see what the December box will contain!
