Bout of Books Read-A-Thon Reading Update Day 4

Thursday:

Ann:
402 pages
I have read 120 pages of Anne of Green Gables I had only planned on reading a few pages but I got so into the story that I couldn't stop reading. I then decided to read a bit of the Doomspell trilogy and finished the first book which I started the day before. I then started to read the second book after lunch and had nearly finished it but I decided to take a break. Then before I went to sleep ( unlike Clare who doesn't sleep) I finished the last few pages of the second book.
The Doomspell (Doomspell, #1)The Scent of Magic (Doomspell, #2)

Clare:
448 pages
I picked up Emily of New Moon by L.M. Montgomery thinking it would be a light read, and because Ann is reading Anne of Green Gables at the moment - which made me want to read something similar. This was not nearly as light as I had expected and I found myself a little depressed by it. Which may just be me relating to personal experiences and it bringing up school memories that weren't so pleasant. Whilst Anne has a lot of love and support around her, Emily poor thing had a family who made it all too obvious they didn't want her (shout out to my family for not being like that! Thank god!) and a teacher who outright bullies her - which is where it got a little depressing and reminiscent. I did like this book and I will be finishing the series but probably not right now. I then read 43 pages of The Silversmith's Wife by Sophia Tobin. I had read about a page or two of The Confectioner's Tale before I got distracted by The Silversmith's Wife - I seem to be in a mystery mood at the moment - but I will be returning to it tomorrow hopefully.
