Bout of Books Day 6 Wrap Up

Ann:

My Life Next Door
I'm in a contemporary mood at the moment and My Life Next Door was a really good read with an unexpected twist!

Totals for the week so far:
7 books completed
2172 pages read

Clare:

I Want It That Way (2B Trilogy #1)
Yesterday was Eurovision day so I didn't get a lot of reading done! But I Want It That Way totally hooked me and I finished it in just two sittings! Such an incredibly good book!

Totals for the week so far:
10 books completed
3741 pages read

Bout of Books Day 5 Wrap Up

Ann:

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Today I read The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde for school. I also read 50 pages of In the Name of Love by Louise Lee but discovered I am in the wrong mood for it right now so put it aside!

Totals for the week so far:
6 books completed
1778 pages read

Clare:

The Dead HouseMissingTill Death
Do you know how much reading you get done when you can't go home till your Mum finishes work? I basically sat in a cafe and read all day. Which is just pretty much the perfect day. The Dead House was great, I saw the twist coming but it totally made sense and was still a great bit of suspense plus I loved how mind twisty it all was. I then read Missing which I really enjoyed, I don't think I loved it as much as I usually love Armstrong's books but it was really, really good and I highly recommend it. And finally I read Till Death which I was kind of disappointed in? I liked the romance but the mystery element was not great. I knew who the "Groom" was from the moment his character (his real character not the serial killer persona) was introduced and from there the mystery failed to engage me.

Totals for the week so far:
9 books completed
3389 pages read

Bout of Books Day 4 Wrap Up

Ann:

The Improbable Theory of Ana and ZakThey All Fall Down
I finished off The Improbable Theory of Ana & Zak which I loved as the characters were incredible and then picked up They All Fall Down which was so full of suspense I raced through it in almost one sitting!

Totals for the week so far:
5 books completed
1600 pages read

Clare:

Maplecroft (The Borden Dispatches, #1)
Maplecroft was a really good read! I wasn't expecting the supernatural-esque element to it but it worked really well! I do slightly prefer The Chronicles of Lizzie Borden's more complex and actually just straight up bad Lizzie but this was a well written and fun read!

Totals for the week so far:
6 books completed
2181 pages read

Crimson and Bone
Crimson & Bone is my favourite book of the month so far! It was so wonderfully written and atmospheric and intriguing! I will have a full review up for it on the release date which is May 18th!! But I highly, highly recommend this!

Bout of Books Day 2 Wrap Up

Ann:

Famous in LoveTruly, Madly, Famously (Famous in Love, #2)
I finished Famous in Love reading at school because it was such a quick read and then I read the sequel Truly, Madly Famously as soon as I got home!

Totals for the week so far:
3 books completed
895 pages read

Clare:

Duels and Deception
I read the first 28 pages of The Pearl Thief before realising that I am in the completely wrong mood for it! Since it's a book I am hugely excited for I have put it to one side for now. I instead picked up Duels & Deception which I really enjoyed. It had a very Georgette Heyer feel to it and whilst it wasn't as fun as the first book I still really liked it.

Totals for the week so far:
4 books completed
1434 pages read

Bout of Books Day 1 Wrap Up

Ann:

Songs About a Girl
Today I finished off Songs About a Girl which I loved although now I am really desperate for the next book! And then I read the first 30 pages of Famous in Love.

Totals for the week so far:
1 book completed
282 pages read

Clare:

OriginVitro (Corpus, #2)Kalahari (Corpus, #3)
Finished Origin by Jessica Khoury. This was a good read though not necessarily as great as I was expecting it to be. Definite hints of insta-love and I cared less about the romance than I did the science elements. I was slightly less interested in Vitro which surprised me as the plot actually originally interested me more. But I felt like, although the action was there, the emotional attachment to the characters wasn't so much. And then the final book in the series Kalahari was definitely my favourite. The action scenes were exciting and the characters were, generally, ones I believed and cared in. The fact that I finished all three books in one day will probably tell you how addictive Khoury's writing is (and also how stupidly can't-leave-the-house ill I am). All in all I had a really great start to Bout of Books!!

Totals for the week so far:
3 books completed
1038 pages read

Spring Into Horror TBR & Goals

Ann:

Promises I Made (Lies I Told, #2)Trust Me, I'm Lying (Trust Me, #1)Frozen CharlotteStalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1)
I am going back to school on Monday so won't have as much time to read as I would like! My goal is to finish at least one book which may be a struggle as exams are starting soon and we have a lot of revision to get done! I am currently reading Promises I Made so will hopefully be able to finish that. I don't have a lot of "horror" books on my shelf but the other three are ones Clare has recommended to me and I'd love to find time to get to them!

Clare:

The Woman in Cabin 10Maplecroft (The Borden Dispatches, #1)He Said/She SaidBryant & May - Wild Chamber: (Bryant & May 14)
My SisterGone Without a TraceCrimson LakeArarat
Crimson and BoneAll the Good ThingsClose To MeThe Wages of Sin
Unlike Ann I don't go to school (Part time University study from home) and whilst I do have an exam to be revising for it's not as urgent and I feel confident about dedicating a fair bit of time to reading! I was so sure I didn't own any thrillers/horror novels but apparently I was super wrong. All of these are review books apart from The Woman in Cabin 10 and Maplecroft which are ones I purchased recently. I am super excited for all of these and although it's probably a bit over-ambitious I hope to finish them all in these two weeks! Fingers crossed for a miracle?

A Winter's Respite Wrap Up

This was my first time taking part and I really enjoyed it. Being spread over two weeks there was very little pressure and whilst I didn't quite meet my goal of 10-15 books I still got a fair bit of reading done! The highlights of the week for me were The Smoke Hunter, My Lady Jane, Georgia Peaches and other Forbidden Fruit and The Diabolic all of which I loved. And it was nice to finish two Classics this month, both re-reads that I greatly enjoyed.

The Smoke HunterThe House on Sunset LakeMine to Possess (Psy-Changeling, #4)My Lady Jane: The Not Entirely True Story

#24in48 Wrap Up Ann

My goal was to manage to read for 24 hours and I was so pleased to have managed it! I thought at one point that I was not going to be able to make it but I spent most of Sunday reading and so I managed to finish in just enough time! I am really looking forward to the next Readathon so that I can see if I can manage to read for 24 hours again!

Total Read: 24 hours 6 minutes

Feeling Sorry for Celia (Ashbury/Brookfield, #1)HeartbeatThe Name of the Star (Shades of London, #1)Username: Regenerated (Username, #2)Lies I Told (Lies I Told, #1)
Fury (The Fury Trilogy, #1)Twilight (Twilight, #1)My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1)My Soul to Save (Soul Screamers, #2)My Soul to Keep (Soul Screamers, #3)

I think that my favourite books of the Readathon were My Soul to Take, My Soul to Save and My Soul to Keep, unfortunately we only have the first three books in the series and so I can't continue reading the rest of the books which is really annoying! I actually really enjoyed every book that I read which is surprising for Twilight because I didn't think I would like it that much.
