Top Ten Books I'm Looking Forward to For the First Half of 2017

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted at The Broke & The Bookish. You can find the link up for this week's topic here and a list of past and future topics here. I made this list from books I have pre-ordered - my pre-orders all seem to be for January/February at the moment so this is a very Jan/Feb heavy list!

1) Mafiosa by Catherine Doyle
Mafiosa (Blood for Blood, #3)
January 5th
I was really surprised and impressed by the first two books in this series. I think I will definitely have to re-read them to refresh my memory but I am very excited to see how everything pans out in this third and, I think, final book to the series!

2) A Perilous Undertaking by Deanna Raybourn
A Perilous Undertaking (Veronica Speedwell, #2)
10th January
I love Deanna Raybourn's books and they are all basically auto-buys for me. This cover is so very impressive to me and I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I am expecting great, great things.

3) Dawn Study by Maria V. Snyder
Dawn Study (Soulfinders, #3)
31st January
Another auto-buy author. Yelena and Valek are two of my favourite characters from any fictional world (not to mention all the awesome side characters). This is the third book in the Soulfinders series and the ninth in the Chronicles of Ixia. I haven't read the second/eighth book yet so really need to get on that quick!

4) Caraval by Stephanie Garber
Caraval
31st January
One of my, and I am sure many others, most anticipated debuts of next year. This sounds incredible. I want to go in as blind as possible but I've already heard some amazing things about this from people lucky enough to have read it already!

5) Starfall by Melissa Landers
Starfall (Starflight #2)
7th February
I loved Starflight, the first book in this series, so much more than I ever expected to and I have been excited for this one ever since. This book follows different main characters (who were in the first book) and I am excited to learn more about them!

6) The Valiant by Lesley Livingston
The Valiant
14th February
Livingston's Wondrous Strange trilogy is one that I feel like I constantly recommend to people - especially if you want a good fey book series! The follow up/spin off trilogy was also amazing. This looks like an awesome read and I am pumped.

7) Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas
Devil in Spring (The Ravenels, #3)
21st February
This is the third in the Ravenels series BUT it is also the story of the son of Evie and Sebastian from Devil in Winter (Wallflowers #3) which is one of my all time favourite historical romances.

8) Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1)
28th March
Laini Taylor has such a unique and beautiful writing style. The covers for this are gorgeous and everything I hear about this book just makes me more and more excited.

9) Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh
Flame in the Mist (Flame in the Mist, #1)
2nd May
For me, this is my favourite cover of 2017 (should I even be deciding that when 2017 hasn't started?). Renee Ahdieh's Wrath and the Dawn duology was superb and beautiful and gave her a spot on my auto-buy list. I don't even know what this is about but I need it in my life!

10) A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3)
2nd May
No cover for this one yet I don't think. A Court of Mist and Fury broke me. I was slightly worried I'd go into a horrible book hangover/slump. This series has overtaken the Throne of Glass series in my affections and I just need more.

Let me know what your most anticipated reads of 2017 are! I feel like it's going to be a great year. It has to be.

You can also find us on Goodreads (Ann and Clare) to keep up with what we are reading.

  2. This is a drool worthy list if ever there was one (which there are many this week, I'm sure)! I still haven't read the first in Raybourn's series, but I hope to this next year. Starflight sounds so good! I'm not familiar with Livingston, but it sounds like I should be. I love books about the fey.

    1. If I'm not careful I'll wind up adding way too much to my TBR based off this week's posts! If you like the fey then I definitely recommend Livingston's book - she did such a good job with them!

    1. Publishers are getting really good at covers lately I swear! And since I am such a cover buyer that's probably not a great thing for my bank account!! :)

  4. I've heard really good things about the first three authors on your list from various bloggers, but haven't read any of their respective books. I've read one of Lisa's contemporaries (and loved it), and am looking forward to Caraval. Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland, Clare.

    1. I've only read Lisa's historical romance so far but I am just about to start one of her contemporaries and I am sure I will love it! Caraval looks amazing although I am trying not to overhype it!

  9. Caraval sure has been a popular choice this week. I haven't added it to my TBR list just yet, but I am really excited to see what everyone thinks of the book when it is published. Hope you enjoy it! Also absolutely dying over the cover for Starfall!

    1. I love the idea of Caraval but I'll admit at least part of my wanting it is down to the cover! In the UK there are four different covers and I'm pretty sure I want to collect them all!
Starfall has such a beautiful cover!!
