Sunday Post 25th September 2016

The Sunday Post STSmall_thumb[2]
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted at Caffeinated Book Reviewer, it's a chance to post a recap on the past week, show the books we have received and share what we plan for the coming week. Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews and the aim is to show our newest books and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops or downloaded on to their e-reader. As always you can click on any of the pictures to be taken to the Goodreads page for that book if you're interested in finding out more about it.

Last Week on the Blog:

Books We Got This Week:

Three Dark Crowns (Untitled, #1)
Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake: Apparently there are three different covers for each sister which is interesting. I have heard mixed things about this book - it is apparently very slow but I am still excited to read it.

Reading Update:

Clare:
I will have reviews posted soon for all the books I read this week.
FellDon't Let Go (Hope, #6)Marlow's Landing
Fell by Jenn Ashworth: 2.5 stars, The perspective threw me a bit. I think I was let down by my expectations - I wanted a ghost story but this was more of a flashback novel. It's not for me but I think a lot of other people could enjoy this.
Don't Let Go by Jaci Burton: 3 stars, A slightly underwhelming story but fairly sweet and very cheesy so it was a fun read.
Marlow's Landing by Toby Vieira: 3 stars, I am so confused about my feelings for this book. It took a lot of intense concentration to read and some of it was written in French which threw me since I did German in school not French (why oh why do more people in books not speak German?!) but overall I think I feel good about it!

  1. Sorry to hear that you didn't like Don't Let Go. I've read a few of Jaci Burton's books and enjoyed them but not this and it's been quite a while. Hope your next one is better!

    1. I didn't actively dislike it - it was just a bit underwhelming for me. I've read a few great romance novels lately so I guess by comparison it just wasn't as good for me! Glad to hear you enjoy her books generally - I should definitely try some more of hers!

    1. It's been pretty high on my wishlist so I hope its great! I think there are different UK and US covers - I love that the UK covers are different for each princess but I ordered off Amazon and got a random cover when I would have preferred one of the other two!

  3. Awesome haul of books. I found someone who managed to find all three covers and owns all the covers. Interesting promo tool for the book.

    1. I am genuinely considering doing that since I love the covers - but it will depend on how much I enjoy the book!

    1. I think all the covers for Three Dark Crowns are so well done, the US one is gorgeous but I am kind of obsessed with the UK ones! I had a pretty mediocre reading week I guess but hopefully next week I'll find some amazing reads!

  5. I was just going to say, that cover for Three Dark Crowns looks different from the ones I've seen. I like this one better I think. Looking forward to your Top 5 Gateway post...

    1. I prefer this cover as well (although I would have loved the alternate covers of Poisoner and Elemental even more)!

  6. Oh my gosh, a switch to French - is that mentioned on the cover as that could come as a bit of a surprise for some readers!

    1. It doesn't on my copy, and on Goodreads the edition language is listed solely as English. It was only a few times in conversation but it meant those conversations were completely lost to me!
