Every Wednesday we are linking up with WWW Wednesday. WWW Wednesday is hosted at Taking on a World of Words and asks 3 questions: What are you currently reading?, What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you'll read next?
Clare:
Currently Reading:
I am just about to start reading Marlow's Landing by Toby Vieira. I am not sure what it's going to be like but there are promises of diamonds and smuggling and all the characters have amazing names like Zog Shikzahl so I am hoping I will enjoy it.
Recently Finished:
I started the week badly, unfortunately, with After Alice which I just did not enjoy. I will have a full review up for this and all the other books mentioned soon. The Unseeing then pulled my week back by being a superbly written mystery with compelling and morally dubious characters. I highly recommend this one. I then read Fell by Jenn Ashworth which ultimately just wasn't for me. I can see a lot of people loving this but I didn't connect to the characters and I found the format disorienting. Don't Let Go was a fun, light-ish read with some good characters. It did go over into the overly cheesy at times and I am not convinced regarding the romance but overall I enjoyed it.
Planning to Read Next:
The next book on my TBR is Hard Rules by Lisa Renee Jones, it looks like its likely to be a quick and exciting read. The same goes for the two Sandra Brown books I have to read, Sting and Friction which look like definite page-turners. I am excited for all three of these books.
I like the sound of The Unseeing and I'm really glad it helped make up for a bad start to the week! Sounds like it was the best book of your week too :-)

It definitely was my favourite of the week! And just a generally good book! I will have a review up for it in October (in time for Halloween)!
DeleteI've seen After Alice pop up on a few occasions recently but I have hesitated because I haven't been a fan of Gregory Maguire's other books. Sorry to hear it wasn't for you. :( Why's it so hard to find good Alice in Wonderland-inspired fiction?
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my WWW post :)
I read one of his books a long time ago and didn't love it - but I am always looking for a good Alice in Wonderland retelling so I gave it a try and it let me down! Guess I have to keep hunting for Alice in Wonderland-inspired books!
DeleteOoh diamond smuggling? :) The Unseeing definitely sounds good as well.
ReplyDeleteDiamond smuggling definitely got my attention! I just hope the book can hold it! The Unseeing was a brilliant read!
DeleteI read Sandra Brown's Friction not long ago, and enjoyed it. Sting is on my list. Enjoy your books, and here's MY WWW POST
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you enjoyed Friction - I am excited to read Sting and Friction!
DeleteSorry you didn't enjoy After Alice. I've only read one McGuire which I liked and I have a second in my shelf. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!
