Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted at The Broke and the Bookish. This weeks topic is Audio Freebie and you can find a list of past and future topics here. I have an Audible account. And in the year I have had it I've listened to a total of one book. One. I am terrible at Audiobooks. But I do have quite a few on my TBR that I will - maybe/probably - get to someday!
1) You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) by Felicia Day
I've heard amazing things about this book and I think hearing Felicia Day read it herself will be the ideal way to do it. I already have this on Audible I just need to actually read it.
2) Yes Please by Amy Poehler
I am actually already a couple of chapters in to this and I liked what I've heard so far. But as I said - I am terrible with Audiobooks so goodness knows when I will finish it.

3) The Red Necklace by Sally Gardner (Narrated by Tom Hiddleston)
Ann has already listened to this and loved it so I definitely need to give it a go. I read the physical book a long time ago and remember enjoying it so listening to it might be an interesting change.

4) Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (Narrated by Rosamund Pike)
Rosamund Pike is my favourite Jane to date so I think she would do an absolutely amazing job of reading the book. I've already read this multiple times myself so maybe my next read through should be an Audible listen.

5) David Attenborough's Life Stories by David Attenborough
I love David Attenborough. He is one of my favourite people (I've probably mentioned this before). As I am typing this I am actually watching Life on Netflix. I have the physical copy of this book so I think it would be good to read the two together. Listen to Attenborough's words and look at the pictures! Perfect!

6) The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling Narrated by Stephen Fry
Stephen Fry is a national treasure. Harry Potter is my favourite book series. I am actually kind of amazed I haven't already listened to him reading Harry Potter. I definitely need to get on that.

7) The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
I've only read one Neil Gaiman book (Stardust) but I want to read more. And what better way to read them than to listen to Neil Gaiman himself telling the story? This is the one I have had recommended to me the most.

8) Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
And this is the one that was already highest on my Neil Gaiman TBR. I am not sure which of these I would want to read first, if any one has any advice I would definitely welcome it?

I'm terrible with audio too, mainly because I get distracted. But Felicia Day's book and Pride and Prejudice I think would both be great audio experiences. And I like listening to David Attenborough.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly it, I'll forget about it and read something else and then just never come back to the audio book! David Attenborough is great and I am really looking forward to Felicia Day and Pride and Prejudice.
DeleteI've been 'rereading' HP with the audios. They are so good! I have the Jim Dale versions but I've been hearing such good things about the Stephen Fry versions as well. Enjoy all of these when you get to them!
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten
I didn't even realise there were different UK and America versions but I guess it makes sense! Stephen Fry is sure to be amazing!
DeleteI bet Felicia Day's book would be good on audio. Also those two Gaiman books are wonderful, in print and I think they could be even better on audio.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear you enjoyed those two, I definitely want to move them up my TBR a bit!
DeleteThese are the types of books I would listen to on audio...if I listened to audiobooks! Especially the Amy Poehler one. I decided to focus on podcasts for my TTT.
ReplyDeleteI tend to listen to auto-biographies or books voiced by their own authors! I always want to check out podcasts!
DeleteAmy Poehler is hilarious! She gives a really humorous performance. Felicia Day is a good read too!
ReplyDeleteHere is our TTT
Glad to hear it, I definitely need to listen to audiobooks more!
DeleteIt took me a while to get into audiobooks also, but now they are my favorite format. P&P is an old favorite and I relisten to it regularly. Since I'm in American, my versions of Harry Potter feature Jim Dale; but I've heard really good things about the U.K. versions as well.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT: "Dear Audiobook Producers: I Really Want These"
I have never listened to P&P but I bet it would be a great one to listen to so I want to do that soon! Glad to hear audiobooks grew on you so much - maybe if I stick with them they'll grow on me as well!
DeleteIt took me awhile to get to where I"m good about listening to audio books so I can completely understand your feelings! Now that I've gotten used to them I love them and always feel a little adrift if I don't have one going. I have listened to Yes Please and Bossypants and loved them both. Yes Please has a bunch of guest stars which is fantastic and I had actually read Bossypants a year or two before I listened to the book and I found that I enjoyed it a lot more in audio than I did reading it. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to get to that point with audio books! I am really enjoying Yes Please, I just need to get back into it! And I am glad to hear Bossypants is a good one too!
DeleteI hear Bossypants on audio is the way to go which I can totally see. I would expect nothing more from Tina Fey!
ReplyDeleteHearing her tell her own story will be amazing! Definitely looking forward to that one!
