Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice and Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. The idea is to share a sentence or so from the first page and the 56th page of the book you are currently reading!
Clare:
I have just started reading Sweet Little Lies by Jill Shalvis, I received it for review from the publisher and I am hoping for a light, romantic read with great characters. Ann and I are both reading Jane Eyre, Ann for the first time me for something like the hundredth (I love Jane Eyre) and I am really enjoying re-reading it. It's really interesting seeing Ann's first time reactions to a book I've loved for so long!
Book Beginning:
"Pru Harris's mom had taught her to make wishes on pink cars, falling leaves and brass lamps, because wishing on something as ordinary as stars or wishing wells wasa sign of no imagination." - Sweet Little Lies by Jill Shalvis
Friday 56:
"Over the past year new pictures just showed up. More of Sean's doing. Finn got it. Sean felt guilty for all Finn had given up to raise him, but Finn didn't want him to feel guilty. He wanted him to take life more seriously." - Sweet Little Lies by Jill Shalvis
The book beginning definitely intrigues me - I already like Pru's mum! And I would love to know what's up with the pictures in the Friday 56. I am definitely hoping for good things from this book.
Jill Shalvis is always a solid read for me. I love her characters! Hope you are enjoying it! Jane Eyre is on my reread list. I think the last time I read it was in high school which was quite awhile ago!
ReplyDeleteI loved Sweet Little Lies, it was a great read and I hope you get to reread Jane Eyre soon, its a lovely book!
DeleteShalvis is one of my go-to romance authors. This sounds like another good one. I'm working my way through TBR mountain and landed on Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas this week. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of Jill Shalvis before but she just became one of my go-to romance authors too thanks to this book!
DeleteI've never heard of Jill Shalvis. I don't read much romance but like the idea of making wishes on pink cars...though I don't often see pink cars, so not many wishes for me.
