Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice and Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. The idea is to share a sentence or so from the first page and the 56th page of the book you are currently reading!
Book Beginning:
"The Houston mansion was huge. Dark. Deserted.Except for the corpse hanging in the living room." - Hush by Karen Robards
Friday 56:
"Their marriage hadn't worked. They hadn't been soul mates, or even compatible life partners. But he had changed her life. He had introduced her to expensive soap." - Hush by Karen Robards
I am really enjoying Hush it is a very exciting read. I have recently read two other Karen Robards books (one of which I posted a review for yesterday) but this is the one that grabbed me from that first sentence and hasn't let go since. I am looking forward to finding out how everything will be resolved.
That's a great opening! I'd have to keep reading just to find out why that corpse was hanging in the living room. Besides, I enjoy books set in Texas.
ReplyDeleteMy Friday post features THE REVENANT.
I haven't read a whole lot of books set in Texas! But I enjoyed this one!
DeleteWonderful beginning! And a good teaser, too -- it's sad about the marriage, though. Thanks for sharing, and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI do love this beginning, definitely a shame about their marriage!
DeleteI'm not familiar with this author, but Hush does look interesting.
ReplyDeleteI only discovered her recently but I am really enjoying her books so far.
DeleteThat is a very dark beginning and I love the cover too. Looks like a winner. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a really fun read! :)
DeleteI haven't heard of this but the first sentence hooked me! I'll have to check it out on goodreads! It's been too long since I've had a book with a good murder in it. :D Here is my Friday 56 for this week. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt was a really fun book, less murder mystery and more adventure/thriller though!
DeleteI like expensive soap. And I like Karen Robards. This looks like a good one. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIf you like expensive soap AND Karen Robards then you should definitely read this! :)
DeleteLOL I like expensive soap too... and that beginning pulled me in. I wonder if it was the hubby who was hanging. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou'd have to read to find out! I really enjoyed the book!
DeleteWhat a beginning! Sounds like it is full of many twists and turns. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great book and I've definitely been in the mood for this genre!
DeleteThe beginning really grabs you and the 56 is kinda funny in a strange way - great choice - will be adding it to my list - here's my Friday meme
ReplyDeleteThats exactly how I felt about the quotes!
DeleteThat makes me want to continue!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings).
