Friday Reads 29th January 2016

Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice, the idea is to grab a book, turn to page 56 (or 56% in an e-book) and find any sentence (no spoilers!) and then post it. Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are currently reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence and impressions about the book.

I am about halfway through The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas and really enjoying it, I will definitely have to extend it into February though. I have also just started Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman which I am very excited for as I have heard nothing but great things! If I like it, which I hope I do, I will continue and read Conspiracy of Blood and Smoke.

Book Beginning:

Friday 56:

    I've been to see someone I actually trust the opinion of to read the Blankman books! Can't wait to see what you think! This week I'm using a middle grade book that I started reading and got yelled at for by my son ;)

      I really liked the Blankman books. I thought the second one wasn't as good but the first was very compelling and offered a very different perspective, she has definitely done her research as well!

      I really enjoyed them, still going with The Count of Monte Cristo. It's long but I think it's worth it!

    I haven't heard of those books by Blankman. I'll be eager to see if they are good. I am spotlighting Blood Cross by Faith Hunter this week. Look for my review tomorrow. Happy reading!

      They were very good, I do recommend them. I have heard of Faith Hunter but never read anything by her so will definitely check out your review!

      The writing was great, Anne Blankman did a lot of research and it really made the story feel realistic.

    Good beginning!

    I read COMC a few years back and absolutely loved it. I read it with my ears. Those huge classics are easier for me as audio books.

      I feel the same way about non-fiction so I know what you mean! I haven't tried audio books of classics yet so I will definitely do that.
