Cover Characteristic: New York City

Cover Characteristic is a weekly feature hosted at Sugar & Snark! New York City is pretty high on my list of places I want to go to! So it turns out I have quite a few New York books on my shelves!

Sleepless in Manhattan (From Manhattan with Love, #1)Sleepless In Manhattan (From Manhattan with Love, #1)Sunset in Central Park (From Manhattan with Love, #2)Sunset in Central Park (From Manhattan With Love, #2)
Miracle on 5th Avenue (From Manhattan with Love, #3)Miracle On 5th Avenue (From Manhattan with Love #3)New York, Actually (From Manhattan with Love, #4)New York, Actually (From Manhattan with Love, #4)
From Notting Hill to New York... Actually (Actually #2)I Heart New York (I Heart, #1)Jessie Hearts NYC (Hearts Series, #1)I'll Take New York

I've actually read all but one of these books (New York, Actually was just released and I am going to read it soon)! Unsurprisingly these are all contemporaries. I love the Sarah Morgan covers - I have the second of each cover choice (so the scenes rather than the silhouettes) but I honestly like both versions of the covers! I also really like the cover for I'll Take New York which is very striking.

Cover Characteristic: Elephants

Cover Characteristic is a weekly feature hosted by Sugar & Snark. I loved this week's topic. Not just because Elephants are great but also because it led me to one of my favourite things - the circus.

The Wanderers (The Wanderers, #1)That Time I Joined the CircusWater for ElephantsElephant Song
The Fifth Elephant (Discworld, #24)Elephants Can Remember (Hercule Poirot, #37)ChainedAn Elephant in the Garden
An Elephant in the GardenAn Elephant in the GardenTamburlaine's Elephants Tamburlaine's Elephants

So yeah, unsurprisingly a lot of books this week! It's hard to pick a favourite cover but I really love The Wanderers and The Fifth Elephant. Next week's topic is New York City which should provide quite a variety of covers!

Cover Characteristic: Cookie Jar

Cover Characteristic is a weekly feature hosted by Sugar & Snark. OK, so ever since I started looking for covers ALL I can do (and now all Ann can do too cause I am mean like that) is sing the Cookie Jar song. Just constantly. In my head. Out loud. We spent a good two minutes singing it from separate rooms earlier and probably drove everyone in the house crazy.

Who Put the Cookies in the Cookie Jar?Who Took the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?
Sweet Pete And the Magical Cookie JarThe Cookie Jar
Who Took The Cookie From The Cookie Jar?The Cookie Jar: Over 90 scrumptious recipes for home-baked treats from choc chip cookies and snickerdoodles to gingernuts and shortbread

And now you've probably got it in your head too. I'm so, so sorry. My favourite cover is probably The Cookie Jar by Liz Franklin if only because it kinda makes me hungry and also has NOTHING to do with school bus songs.

Also - this is our 600th post which is pretty cool!

Cover Characteristic: Teapot(s)

Cover Characteristic is a weekly feature hosted by Sugar and Snark!

I'm a Little TeapotI'm a Little Teapot

I was mostly kidding when I told Ann that I could find an Alice in Wonderland cover to fit almost every theme but it continues to be true (and I may challenge myself to do it every week). It also happens to be my favourite one, so fun and bright! I also really like Kat, Incorrigible because it looks like such a fun and magical read.
Also fun childhood story; back when I did ballet, tiny child me performed I'm a Little Teapot - we have a video and everything. So those two bottom ones made me super nostalgic!

Cover Characteristic: Playing Cards

Cover Characteristic is a weekly feature hosted over at Sugar & Snark!

Girl in the Shadows (Cirque Americain, #2)
Queen of Hearts (Queen of Hearts Saga #1)Blood of Wonderland (Queen of Hearts Saga #2)
Shadowplay (Micah Grey, #2)Killer Instinct (The Naturals, #2)I Am the Messenger

This was the first topic in a long while that actually felt easy!! My brother works as a tournament director in a casino so I always find myself drawn towards books with playing cards on the cover as they remind me of him. I am not, myself, actually much good at cards but these books are all on my wishlist. I love the creativity of Killer Instinct and it's a series I definitely want to read soon. And I love the idea of the Queen of Hearts books being made to look like playing cards rather than just having playing cards on them. But I have to admit my favourite cover is actually Girl in the Shadows because it's so striking and just makes me want to read it immediately.

Cover Characteristic: Statue of Liberty

Cover Characteristic is a weekly feature hosted over at Sugar & Snark! This weeks topic was one I thought would be easy for some reason! The Statue of Liberty is so iconic that I was sure it would be on plenty of covers. As it turns out - not so much! I had a few in my mind (contemporaries) that when I checked them didn't have the Statue of Liberty on them at all - so I am clearly going crazy.

UnDivided (Unwind, #4)The Overton Window (Overton Window, #1)
Den potéMurphy's LawAfter the Rain

My favourite of these is definitely UnDivided which I haven't read yet but very much want to. I love how the Statue of Liberty keeps getting submerged by the weather - rain in After the Rain and snow in Den Pote which is the Czech edition of The Day After Tomorrow. It's amazing how often the Statue of Liberty gets destroyed in disaster movies - and now apparently disaster books! Murphy's Law meanwhile is the only one of these books I have actually read and whilst I did like it I wasn't blown away - I like this cover more than the one I have!

Cover Characteristic: Eating Utensils

This is our first time doing Cover Characteristics in a while (I think a few months) and I had forgotten how hard topics can be sometimes! I totally thought eating utensils would be an easy one but it somehow wasn't - I only found three!

The Wonder
Hunger: A Memoir of (My) BodyA Wolf at the Table

The Wonder is definitely my favourite - it's so simple yet stark and it's very arresting as a result. Hunger is also simple and then A Wolf at the Table is brilliantly creepy! Next week's topic is the Statue of Liberty and I feel like there will be a wealth of covers to choose from for that!

Cover Characteristic: Just Clothes

Cover Characteristic is a weekly feature hosted at Sugar and Snark and you can find this weeks topic here.

Distant Waves
The Dress Shop of DreamsThe Secret Lives of Dresses
A Vintage AffairNine Women, One DressJulia's Chocolates
Prom and PrejudicePerfectly Dateless (Universally Misunderstood, #1)The Wedding Dress

At first we thought we'd struggle with this topic and instead we found so, so many. Distant Waves is my initial favorite although I love The Dress Shop of Dreams as well. I also quite like Julia's Chocolates because it seems relevant to the plot of the novel.
