Wednesday Catch-Up 17th August 2016

Every Wednesday we are linking up with WWW Wednesday. WWW Wednesday is hosted at Taking on a World of Words and asks 3 questions: What are you currently reading?, What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you'll read next?

Currently Reading:
The Silvered Heart
I am currently reading The Silvered Heart by Katherine Clements which I received for review from the publisher and I am very excited about it. I love the idea of a highwaywoman and I am hoping to finish this today or tomorrow so will have a review posted soon.

Recently Finished:
The Star-Touched Queen (The Star-Touched Queen, #1)
The first book that I read this week was The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi. I thought it was a good read and I liked the characters but I didn't love them and I felt a bit detached from the plot. The description was lovely but there was so much of it that it detracted from my involvement with the characters.

Planning to Read Next:
Eligible (The Austen Project #4)Way Down Dark (The Australia Trilogy, #1)Eden Gardens
I am not quite sure what I am in the mood for at the moment so I decided to just read some review books and see how it goes. First up is Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld. I am always up for a good retelling and I have heard great things about this one. Then I plan to read Way Down Dark which is the first in the Australia trilogy by JP Smythe. This has been likened to Divergent and The Hunger Games so I am intrigued. I then want to read Eden Gardens by Louise Brown. I have been drawn to this one for a while but for some reason kept putting it off. The cover is gorgeous and the blurb intrigues me.

You can also find us on Goodreads (Ann and Clare) to keep up with what we are reading

  1. I like the idea of modern retellings of P&P too. I'll be interested to see what you think of Eligible.
And the idea of a highwaywoman is brilliant :-) I hope you enjoy The Silvered Heart too.

  4. I bought The Star-Touched Queen back in May, but still haven't read it. I've seen a lot of people with the same opinion as you - the writing is wonderful, but the characters and plot could be better. Hopefully I'll like it whenever I get around to reading it!
Thanks for stopping by my WWW!

    1. I hope you do enjoy it! If the characters and plot had been as good as the writing then this would have been an amazing book!

  5. I've heard similar things about the description of Star Touched Queen. I think I would like the book, but I think I'd be distracted as well. I love the cover for Way Down Dark! Great picks this week. :D

    1. If you liked The Wrath and the Dawn you will probably like Star Touched Queen although I would say its not as compelling, similar writing styles but I think TW&TD was better developed.

    1. I have heard some great things and some less positive things but it seems to be the most well liked of the Austen series so I have high hopes!

  7. The Silver Heart has such a pretty cover! I think I'm in a grey-white-red mood recently <3 I haven't read any of these, but I'll look up The Silver Heart and The Star-Touched Queen on Goodreads.

    Happy reading! :)
