Wednesday Catch-Up 11th November 2015

Every Wednesday we are linking up with WWW Wednesday, What Are You Reading Wednesday? and Waiting on Wednesday. WWW Wednesday is hosted at Taking on a World of Words and asks 3 questions: What are you currently reading?, What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you'll read next?
What Are You Reading Wednesday are hosted on It's a Reading Thing and asks;
1. What's the name of your current read?
2. Go to page 34 or 34% in your e-book and share one complete sentence.
3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?
Waiting on Wednesday is hosted at Breaking the Spine and is a chance to show what upcoming releases you are excited for! Each week we will take it in turns to choose a book for Waiting on Wednesday and this week was Clare's turn! You can click any of the pictures in the post to go to that books goodreads page.

Ann:

Currently Reading:
Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1)The Turn of the Screw
I am currently reading Bloodlines and The Turn of the Screw. Both of which I am really enjoying.

Recently Finished:
Unfortunately I have been unable to finish any books because I have had a lot of homework to do recently. However I am hoping to finish a book soon,
Planning to Read Next:
Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)
I am still planning on read Throne of Glass next and am very excited to read them.

Clare:

Currently Reading:
The Hunchback of Notre-DameI'll Give You the SunFar From You
I am still reading The Hunchback of Notre-Dame although I won't be reading any of it this coming week. Since I am going away and it's a fairly big book I am leaving it behind and will get back into it once I get back. I am also reading I'll Give You the Sun which I am reading slowly because I want to pay it a lot of attention. So I am reading one section a day. I should finish this at the weekend. And I am just about to start Far From You by Tess Sharpe which I have heard very mixed things about but I am hoping it will be great.
"And there's the other variation: If we were drowning, who would Dad save first? (Jude.) For thirteen years, Mom's stumped us. We had absolutely no idea who she'd dredge out of the water first.Until now. And without sharing a glance, we both know it." -Page 33, I'll Give You the Sun
There isn't anything on page 34  but I really like this section. Jude and Noah have such a really weird, screwed up yet close relationship that seems to perfectly define twins. I wouldn't know exactly but Ann is a twin so she'd probably know more but this definitely seems to sum up that they have a closer bond than with anyone else but they also compete a lot. I wouldn't want to live in The Hunchback of Notre-Dame because nothing is going well for any of the characters right now. And Far From You seems like it's going to be fairly dark so I will pass on that one too. I'll Give You the Sun seems like it could be about to break my heart but I would love to be as talented at something as these two are.
Recently Finished:
The Impersonator (Roaring Twenties Mystery, #1)Texts from Jane Eyre: And Other Conversations with Your Favorite Literary CharactersTo Catch a Rake (The Rake's Handbook, #3)A Gentleman's Game (Romance of the Turf, #1)
Velvet UndercoverHold Me Like a Breath (Once Upon a Crime Family, #1)Someone Else's Fairytale (Someone Else's Fairytale, #1)The Bet (The Bet, #1)
Famous in LoveTruly, Madly, Famously (Famous in Love, #2)Lying Out LoudDon't Even Think About It
BittersweetThe Book of Broken HeartsFaking PerfectBetween Here and Forever
I had kind of mixed hopes for The Impersonator by Mary Miley. I love a good mistaken identity/impersonation story but I've read a few that just didn't work. This fell somewhere in the middle for me. It was nowhere near as good as, for example, The Ivy Tree by Mary Stewart which is actually mentioned in the acknowledgements and the mystery was not great but I did really like the characters and I am engaged enough to want to read the sequel. Just not straight away. Texts From Jane Eyre was really, really funny. I had, thankfully, read most of the books in this so I understood the references. There were some, like Daisy Miller that definitely made me see the original a little differently whilst still making me laugh. I then read To Catch a Rake by Sally Orr which I found to be a little disappointing. It wasn't badly written and the historical details were great but I never felt particularly connected to the romance. Which in a romance novel is fairly important! I enjoyed A Gentleman's Game a lot more. I liked both the main characters and I really enjoyed their romance. It was also quite a funny read and it had an engaging mystery. I look forward to reading more from this author. Then I read Velvet Undercover by Teri Brown which I actually really enjoyed. I had seen mixed reviews before reading it but I found that I liked how untrustworthy nearly every character was, I love not knowing a characters motives. I also really liked the main character, but I did feel like the romance, though sweet, was kind of rushed too much.  I found I enjoyed Hold Me Like a Breath more than I expected to which was nice. I did think the romance overtook the excitement at times and I would have liked more grittiness especially in the middle part of the book. But overall I really enjoyed it. My review for this will be up tomorrow. Someone Else's Fairytale was another surprise. It was way cuter and sweeter and just better than I had anticipated. I loved Jason and their relationship. There are sequels and spin-offs that I am probably going to read as well. But the ending was a really great, complete one so I feel satisfied. Because this got me in the cheesy romance mood I then read The Bet by Rachel Van Dyken, which was ok although a little too cheesy for me maybe? I do have the sequels on my kindle so I will read them soon. I then read Famous in Love and Truly, Madly, Famously by Rebecca Serle which I really, really enjoyed. I will have a full review up for these on Saturday. They were fun and the characters were great, although of course there is a love triangle, this is done well though. I have had Lying Out Loud on my shelf for ages and finally got around to reading it. It was a pleasant read. I really liked the characters but the plot made me uncomfortable at times and I got so annoyed with Sonny at times. My review for Lying Out Loud will be up on Friday. The same goes for Don't Even Think About It. Super fun, really funny and sweet and I loved reading it but only if you (ironically) don't think about it too much. I will have a full review for this up on Monday. Bittersweet was cute and I liked the main character but I wasn't hugely into the romance. I enjoyed The Book of Broken Hearts a lot. I loved the main character and her family relationships and also totally loved her romantic relationship. I then read Faking Perfect by Rebecca Phillips which I really loved, I definitely want to read more of her books. Finally I read Between Here and Forever by Elizabeth Scott. I really love her writing style because it feels like the main character is talking to me which, despite how short the book is, means I fall completely in love with her characters.

Planning to Read Next:
Hotel RubyWorld After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2)End of Days (Penryn and the End of Days, #3)Illuminae (The Illuminae Files, #1)Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3)Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles, #3.5)Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4)An Inheritance of Ashes
Every week I make a "Planning to read" and completely fail to stick to it but this week I kind of have to. Since I am going away today for a week I can only read the books I've packed. Which is still quite a good selection (it's a miracle I managed to pack clothes). I might not read all of them since it's likely the only reading I will be doing is on the train journeys (which actually adds up to a lot of time) but I like knowing I won't run out of reading material!

Waiting on Wednesday:

My Lady Jane
For fans of The Princess Bride comes the comical, fantastical, romantical, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey.
Lady Jane Grey, sixteen, is about to be married to a total stranger—and caught up in an insidious plot to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But that’s the least of Jane’s problems. She’s about to become Queen of England. Like that could go wrong.

Clare: I am kind of a Tudor fan. I studied them in college (and independently for years before that). The whole Tudor period fascinates me and always has but Jane Grey has always been kind of an enigma. I admire her a lot but her story is kind of sad. Which is why I'm hoping that "for the fans of The Princess Bride" means this veers off course from reality and gives her a happy ending? Please? This is due to be released June 17th 2016 which is a looong way off it feels like.

You can also find us on Goodreads (Ann and Clare) to keep up with what we are reading
